40 Years of Breeding, Raising and Training Gun Dogs
|
Since 1970 we have had one goal; to raise smart, trainable, healthy family dogs that hunt. With each generation we have selected pedigrees that would produce the kind of dog we wanted for our own family, and that would excel as a hunting companion. What started as a hobby, ended up being a life of dogs! Our dogs live with us, they are our family members.

Training dogs came naturally, we wanted to not only improve our own bloodlines but prove that the dogs we raised were competitive in both obedience and hunt tests. The results show in our pedigrees.....five generations of dogs that both excelled in the obedience ring and in the hunt test fields.

Together Stewart and Maureen McNames have titled over 15 dogs. Ten of these dogs are titled Master Hunter's, three of which are also Hunting Retriever Champions with the United Kennel Club. Additionally, Lazy M is the home of two dogs that are in an elite group of labradors that have both a Master Hunter Title and a Utility Dog Excellent title.

In addition to Master Hunter titled dogs, 12 Lazy M dogs have earned their Senior Hunters, 15 have a Junior Hunter title. In the obedience ring, Maureen has earned 15 Companion Dog titles, 12 Companion Dog Excellent titles, 5 Utility Dog titles and 3 Utility Dog Excellent Titles. This does not include the countless Lazy M puppies that have excelled in the ring and in the field.

Always happy to share their knowledge, Stewart and Maureen decided to go 'professional' in 2005. Since then they have accepted dogs for training, helping customers to reach their goal of having a well trained dog in the hunting field. They also have hosted and provided countless hours of expertise with the Rock River Retriever Dog Club.
In 2009, Lazy M Labradors expanded to include Tracy and Jerry Harper, Maureen and Stu's daughter and Son-in-Law. They reside in Wisconsin, where Tracy trains and competes with her Lazy M dogs in both AKC Hunt Tests and Obedience competitions. Tracy has titled 9 dogs, including four CDX's, five Junior Hunters and a Senior Hunter. She currently is a part time obedience instructor and has an active hunting club that meets bi-weekly to train dogs for the field.
